Engineering Portfolio
This project was completed as part of graduate-level course titled Integrated Computer-Aided Design. The pieces were designed in SolidWorks. The SolidCam was used to generate G-Code for the Haas TL-1. All pieces were cut on the TL-1 with post-ops being performed by the Haas Mini Mill and ProtoTRAK CNC mill. One set of pieces is made out of aluminum and hand polished to a mirror finish. The second set is made out of brass and similarly hand polished to a mirror finish. The board is made out of wood that was stained to look like cherry oak. It was then covered in a layer of tabletop epoxy to protect the wood as well as give it a glossy finish. A piece of acrylic was then attached on top. The acrylic was taped completely over and then a laser cutter was used to cut a square pattern into it. Peeling off the tape from the correct squares, the acrylic was then sandblasted, leaving a permanent pattern on the board.
